Curator Marananga 2016 Shiraz
Belonging to the original Curator range, this wine was created to be reflect the differences in our Barossa vineyard locations and their unique micro climates. This Marananga Shiraz is sourced from the winery block and was hand-picked, open fermented and basket pressed into only French oak. 50% new with the remaining percentage aged in second fill oak for 24 months. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
97 points – Sam Kim February 2020 – This is stacked with dark fruit richness with toasted spice, vanilla pod, chocolate tart and tapenade notes, combined with outstanding weight and intensity, delivering expansive mouthfeel and lavish texture. A substantial offering displaying exceptional harmony and structure, ensuring its gracious development. At its best: 2024 to 2040
95 Points – James Halliday 2020 Wine Companion – A massive full-bodied shiraz, but better balanced than the Black Label, with less oak and tannins to be dealt with, an extra 4 months in barrel also helping. The net result is a good example of its style. Feb 2019 Drink by 2046.
