Hamlets Shiraz is a blend from different sub regions or “Hamlets” from where we grow and buy grapes from across the Barossa Valley.
Hamlets Shiraz is made in a complex but juicy style that is true to our house style but extremely easy to drink though complex enough to be able to cellar for many years of future enjoyment. Predominantly from three vineyards all planted in the 1950’s in the Hamlets of Kalmina, Nuriootpa and Ebenezer and then “topped up” with 20% declassified barrels from the CWCo Shiraz blend that didn’t make that blend from Marananga, Stone Well and Seppeltsfield.
No new oak, only seasoned barrels of USA and French, made in a juicy but complex style. Will benefit from cellaring but why bother when it tastes so delicious straight out of the gate!
92 points Halliday Wine Companion - Shiraz sourced from three valley-floor vineyards planted post-1950s in Ebenezer, Kalimna and Nuriootpa. Deep magenta-splashed crimson and aromas of satsuma plum, black cherry and boysenberry fruits cut with hints of baking spice, dark chocolate, licorice, olive tapenade, earth and purple florals. Pure, slightly broody black fruits with a chalky tannin grip and a vivid black-cherry-skin acidity on the finish.
