Curator Marananga 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon - 94pts Winepilot
Belonging to the original Curator range, this Marananga Cabernet Sauvignon was estate grown and hand-picked, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Hand picked from a selected part of our home vineyard.
It’s beautifully ripe and complex, with a bouquet showing blackcurrant, sweet plum, cocoa and cedar characters with a hint of tobacco. It’s concentrated and richly textured on the palate, displaying stunning fruit purity and power, finishing impressively long and structured.
Bottled unfined and unfiltered and is Vegan friendly.

This wine sees only French oak hogsheads, around half of them new, for a year and a half. A fine example of how warm climate Cabernet can be utterly delicious, even if it does not resemble the more traditional styles. Under Diam.
Inky dark hue, the aromas offer notes of cigar boxes, cassis, blackberries, coffee beans and mocha. There is a sweet core of choc/cherry, which centres the wine. Supple and seamless with a fine line of acidity, good balance and medium to good length, the oak is deftly handled. This is very much a crowd-pleaser. The palate sees the emergence of notes of cold tea, more chocolate, black fruits and cassis. Ideally, squirrel this away for the next three to five years and then enjoy over the following decade.
93 points - Halliday Wine Companion
Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry, cassis, dark cherry and chocolate-dipped cherries. Notes of fine spice, mocha, dried herbs, purple florals, black tea, tobacco lead and espresso. There is a sleekness to its form, with abundant energy as it whooshes across the palate, leaving a cloud of fine, chalky tannin and a fan of cassis, herbs and spice on the finish.

Co-fermented with 5% Merlot. Basket pressed; matured in 55% new French oak barrels; unfined and unfiltered. Brassy, bold and brooding Barossa cabernet of full red/purple hue. Loaded with mocha and coffee-bean oak. Layers of licorice, cassis, coal and cherry liqueur. Firm, medium-grained tannins, warm alcohol and chunky oak speak louder than fruit. It nonetheless holds its form and persistence.
92 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate – April 2023
The 2020 Marananga Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley. The fruit was fermented with 100% whole berries, then basket pressed into French oak for 18 months' maturation. On the nose, the wine is savory and brambly, with layers of Dutch licorice, cassis, raspberry and mulberry. The spices stray to the exotic, with star anise, licorice root, arnica and sarsaparilla. It is juicy, spicy and layered. I like the savory structural integrity of this wine; the sweetness at its core is a product of the fruit sourcing, a lovely thing to behold. Barossa is a special place.
