2024 Stonehouse Neldner Vineyard Shiraz - screw cap

$150.00

Hand-picked from the Neldner Family old contour vineyard, planted in the mid 1950’s. Naturally fermented with 18% whole bunches and the rest whole berries in traditional open fermenters for 12 days. Then basket pressed into a mixture of USA and French oak, 15% new to complete malolactic fermentation naturally and remained in them for 18 months before blending and bottling with no fining or filtration (ie Vegan friendly).

98 / 100 Vino Masters

From an 80-year-old contoured Shiraz vineyard in Seppeltsfield, this is a bold, full-bodied expression of old-vine Barossa fruit. Handpicked in the cool of the morning, the fruit was handled with care: 18% whole bunch retained, the rest destemmed into open fermenters. A cold soak preceded slow natural fermentation over nine to ten days, followed by basket pressing and maturation in 30% new French oak with the balance in seasoned American and French oak.

Deep purple in hue, the wine opens with a spicy, aromatic nose shaped by whole-bunch lift, rich dark fruits and perfectly integrated oak. The palate is luxurious and layered with dark blackberry fruits, robust oak, dark cocoa and ripe berry depth, supported by powdery tannins. Full-bodied and silky smooth, it carries the unmistakable hedonism of Barossa Shiraz while retaining impressive length, density and structure.

★★★★★ A generous, powerful old-vine Shiraz with depth, richness and classic Barossa intensity.

96 / 100 Wine Orbit

Superbly ripe and inviting, with dark-fruit richness, cake spice, vanillin oak, and floral aromas, it's concentrated on the palate, exhibiting outstanding weight and opulent texture. Mouth-filling with delectable flavours and layers of chalky tannins, finishing impressively long and satisfying. At its best: 2027 to 2042. April 2026
